Other Peoples Places is a shop and studio based in South East London, founded by art director Hannah Claydon in 2020. It’s a platform for creating, writing, and designing, born from a love of vintage pieces and Hannah’s personal interests in interior design, ceramics, textile design, and photography.
Inspired by the open-source ethos of Stewart Brand’s Whole Earth Catalog, the brand name comes from a spread in one of its magazines featuring the words ‘Other Peoples Places. There are many ways of doing things… besides your own’—a nod to learning through process and letting go of preconceived ideas. By mirroring the original spelling, the omission of an apostrophe in “Peoples” reflects a key sentiment of Other Peoples Places: there are no right or wrong answers.
The shop features a carefully curated collection of objects, books, and furniture, all sourced globally and shipped internationally. The studio is an evolving project—documenting handmade pieces, short-form articles, playlists, and a growing reference library of third-party materials.
Drawing on Hannah’s expertise in art direction, strategy, and product styling, along with insights from renovating her own 1960s maisonette, Other Peoples Places offers interior styling for both residential and editorial projects. Curatorial services are also available for concept stores, sourcing vintage finds to suit each client’s unique style. Items from the store are also available for hire for photoshoots.
