Ray Kappe: Kappe Residence
Residential Masterpieces, Japan, 2018

The Kappe Residence, designed by Ray Kappe in the 1960s, is a prominent example of mid-century architecture located in Pacific Palisades, California. Constructed between 1965 and 1967, this residence showcases Kappe’s integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, featuring a distinctive use of wood and large glass walls that invite natural light. This collectible book is part of the Residential Masterpieces series by Ada Edita Global Architecture. The softcover, large format series features some of the world’s most renowned architectural works by Aalto, Corbusier, Ando and Graves, to name a few. The book includes an interview with Thom Mayne and text by Takashi Yanai in both Japanese and English and beautiful photography from Yoshio Futagawa, providing an in-depth look at Kappe’s innovative design philosophy. Excellent condition overall, with a few scuffed corners and light scratches to the glossy cover to be expected.
