Butter & Jam Dish, Alessi Fratelli (Alfra), Italy, 1960s

In 1921, Giovanni Alessi and his brother founded ‘Fratelli Alessi Omegna’, also known as FAO, a workshop for processing brass and nickel silver sheet. During the 1960’s, they changed the name of the company to ALFRA (ALessi FRAtelli). During these years, the company specialised in the production of objects for professional use, including for hotels and bars. This Butter & Jam dish was no exception to the times, created in stainless steel in signature Alessi style. A true 1960s piece, with significant wear, marks and discolouration to the box, though the dish itself remains in very good condition. Stamped at the base with ‘Alfra Alessi, Italy 18/10 Stainless Steel, Italy, Mod Dep’. Rare to find in such good condition with the original packaging.
